Organic Production Standards in Catalonia
Organic agriculture is governed by Regulation (EEC) 2092/91 (and is therefore valid in all European Union countries), which establishes the standards for the production, manufacture, labeling and the control system of these products.
Everyone who produces, manufactures, packages or imports products with organic, biological or organic marking has to comply with regulations and have authorization from an official certifying organization. In Catalonia, this organization is the CCPAE.
Within the European Union, all products are regulated by the same standards.

NOP Standards
The CCPAE also has United States government accreditation as a control organization for the certification of organic products, in accordance with NOP (National Organic Program) standards. Consequently, products certified by the Council are authorized for export to the United States as organic products.
The certification covers agricultural products, livestock, manufactured and processed products and wild harvesting.
The CCPAE is the first public control organization to be authorized by the NOP in Europe.
