The CCPAE

The Consell Català de la Producció Agrària Ecològica (Catalan Council of Organic Agricultural Production – CCPAE) is a public law corporation with its own legal status. The organization is governed by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Action of the Catalan Autonomous Government.
The CCPAE is the controlling authority in Catalonia, whose purpose is to audit and certify organic agro-food products in our country.

How is it organized?

The CCPAE consists of the governing board and the executive and operational bodies.
The governing board is responsible for making decisions regarding the running of the Council. This is the highest body in the CCPAE.
It has 12 members: three each representing producers, manufacturers, consumers and the Administration, of which one is elected chairman. The aim is to have an equal representation of interests, in accordance with European standard EN45011.
The executive body is responsible for executing the decisions taken by the governing board through the technical director and certification committee. The latter body consists of one representative from the Administration and two certifying experts.
The operational body is divided into three sections that report to the technical director: the certification section, the general affairs section and the inspection section. This body is responsible for certification, inspection, promotion and administration of the CCPAE.
